  • 27 September 2026
  • Strasbourg Convention Center, Strasbourg, France
  • In conjunction with 29th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention - MICCAI 2026

ODIN 2026 introduced a benchmark for turning 3D dental data into clinical text. ToothFairy4 asks for maxillofacial and surgical planning reports from CBCT volumes (dental status, bone quality, anatomical risks); Bite2Text asks for orthodontic reports from intraoral scans and photographs. Both are trained on multi-center data and scored on test sets from independent sites.

  • ToothFairy4 winner: Singh, Lu and Sagl, a segmentation-guided VLM pipeline for CBCT report generation
  • Bite2Text winner: Li et al., a modular structured pipeline from dental geometry to clinical text
  • Prizes: €1,500, €1,000 and €500 for each sub-challenge

  • 27 September 2025
  • Daejeon Convention Center, Daejeon, South Korea
  • In conjunction with 28th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention - MICCAI 2025

The third ToothFairy challenge extended the dataset of ToothFairy2 with 102 more fully annotated scans and a much finer taxonomy, including the pulp cavity of every tooth and small neurovascular structures. Runtime counted in the ranking alongside accuracy, and a second track asked for click-based interactive segmentation of the Inferior Alveolar Canal.

  • 582 CBCT volumes (532 public, 50 held out for testing) with 77 classes and over 40,000 annotated objects
  • Task 1: multi-class segmentation, with runtime in the ranking
  • Task 2: interactive segmentation of the Inferior Alveolar Canal
  • Five top teams presented their methods at ODIN 2025, chaired by Federico Bolelli and Zdravko Marinov

  • Lecce, Italy
  • In conjunction with 21st International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing - ICIAP 2022

Binary image processing is less fashionable in the deep learning era, yet most computer vision pipelines still rely on it: connected components labeling, thinning, contour tracing and morphology prepare training data and clean up network outputs. BNBW collected work on faster algorithms for CPU, GPU and FPGA, binary features and maps for neural networks, binarization, and extensions to 3D volumes.

  • Program committee of eight experts from Europe, Asia, Oceania and North America
  • Mixed event, in person in Lecce and streamed online
  • Followed by the Frontiers Research Topic “Binary Is the New Black (and White)”
